Dr. Yelverton specializes in both Surgical Oncology and General Surgery. She performs common surgical procedures including breast surgery, gallbladder surgery, gastric, intestinal and colon surgery, thyroid surgery and minimally invasive parathyroid surgery. In addition, she has expertise in skin and soft tissue tumor surgery including melanoma and sarcomas of the limbs, liver and pancreas surgery and both sentinel and radical lymph node procedures. Dr. Yelverton also performs minimally invasive intestinal and biliary surgical procedures and offers office-based diagnostic breast and thyroid ultrasound as well as ultrasound-guided breast biopsy and benign breast tumor cryotherapy and outpatient stereotactic breast biopsy. She also performs medical acupuncture. | |||||
Dr. Yelverton provides oncologic surgical care in a multi-disciplinary setting, coordinating her care with experts in medical and radiation oncology, nutritional and psychological support, and physical and occupational therapy at centers in both the North Broward and South Broward areas. She has professional associations in both Broward and Dade counties
Dr. Yelverton provides inpatient and outpatient services at Westside Regional Medical Center, Plantation General Hospital and University Hospital and Medical Center in the North Broward district and at the Memorial West, Miramar and Pembroke Hospitals in the Memorial Healthcare System in the South Broward district Personal Information Dr. Cheryl Yelverton is a graduate of Duke University School of Medicine in Durham, NC. She completed residency training in General Surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, FL and is Board Certified in General Surgery. Dr. Yelverton is also formally fellowship trained in General Surgical Oncology which she also completed at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, FL. She is comprehensively trained in General Surgery and subspecialty trained in liver and pancreas surgery, breast oncology surgery, gastric, intestinal and colon surgery, skin and soft tissue tumor surgery including melanoma and sarcomas of the limbs, minimally invasive biliary and intestinal surgery, diagnostic upper and lower endoscopy, thyroid and minimally invasive, radioguided parathyroid surgery and both sentinel and radical lymph node procedures.Dr. Yelverton serves on the Credentialing Committee and Cancer Committee at Westside Regional Medical Center.
